A rheumatologist is a specialist in internal medicine who has devoted an additional two to three years of focused training in the diagnosis and treatment of all forms of arthritis and connective tissue disorders. They are the experts on conditions affecting joints, muscle, bones and immune system. Their goal is to establish a targeted therapy that will help prevent or minimize progression of disease state.
Rheumatologists treat rheumatic diseases that cause inflammation of the joints and connective tissue. There are more than 100 types of these diseases including: Lupus, Gout, Rheumatoid Arthritis, Fibromyalgia, Osteoarthritis, Pseudogout, Joint Pain, Polymyalgia Rheumatica, Polymyositis and Dermatomyositis, Psoriatic Arthritis, Raynaud's, Sjogren's Syndrome, Tendonitis and Bursitis, Trigger Finger, Vasculitis, Osteoporosis and others.
On the day of your first appointment, please arrive at the office 30 minutes early to fill out the necessary paperwork. Bring pertinent labs, x-rays and MRI’s. If you need directions, please see the directions page on this website. If you require a referral from your Primary Care Physician (PCP), please bring in a copy or verify with us that it has been received. Also, please make sure that your referring physician has sent the necessary medical records so that your physician here can review your medical history.
