Joint Pain Joint pain may be a sign of osteoarthritis, injury or overuse, an inflammatory process or a chronic pain syndrome. Different types of arthritis affect different parts of the body. The location of the pain as well as the symptoms that help or worsen the joint pain are important pieces of information that can help in making a diagnosis. Patient age and family history also contribute to various types of arthritis. Your rheumatologist will ask you questions and examine you to best determine the reason for your pain. It is important to determine the cause of your joint pain before selecting a treatment plan. |
